Germon, 46, was at the gym on the leg press machine when it slipped and he twisted his lower back. Initially he developed pain in the groin and inner thigh, and thinking he may have strained a muscle, he continued attending the gym. After several weeks he started waking at 4am with excruciating pain in the groin and inner thigh region. During the day the pain was okay and he managed to work in his office position and perform most other activities including playing golf, however at night once the pain woke him, he could not return to sleep.
