I recently saw a 13 year-old boy, called Jack, who had travelled from Christchurch with his mother. She was concerned with her sons’ history of headaches,which had been present for approximately 10 years. The headaches started when he had an incident at the age of three, he was diving onto a sofa to where his uncles were sitting, and one of the uncles moved and instead of a soft landing he landed with his head against the sofa. Since then he also had an incident on a trampoline and another fall, possibly aggravating his headache. His headache had been diagnosed as tension-type headache with perhaps a migraine component and he was taking medications regularly for the headache symptoms.
